Responsibilities:
Production of Bakery Items: Prepare and bake a variety of bakery items, including bread, pastries, cakes, cookies, and desserts, following established recipes and techniques.
Dough Preparation: Mix, knead, shape, and proof doughs, ensuring proper texture, consistency, and rising.
Baking Operations: Operate and monitor baking equipment, such as ovens, mixers, dough sheeters, and proofing cabinets, ensuring proper temperature, timing, and baking conditions.
Ingredient Management: Measure, weigh, and combine ingredients accurately, following recipes and portion control guidelines.
Recipe Development: Contribute to recipe development and innovation, experimenting with flavors, textures, and techniques to create new and exciting bakery products.
Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks during the baking process, including visual inspections, taste tests, and texture evaluations, to ensure products meet bakery standards.
Decorating and Finishing: Decorate and finish bakery items with icings, glazes, fillings, toppings, and garnishes, ensuring aesthetic appeal and attention to detail.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of baking ingredients and supplies, communicating any shortages or discrepancies to supervisors.
Sanitation and Safety: Maintain a clean and organized work area, following sanitation and safety guidelines to ensure compliance with health regulations.
Collaboration: Work closely with other bakery team members, including pastry chefs, commis, and assistants, to ensure smooth workflow and efficient operations.
Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers, answering inquiries, and providing product recommendations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Culinary or baking education is a plus.
Proven experience as a Baker in a bakery or similar setting.
In-depth knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
Creative and artistic skills for decorating and finishing bakery products.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistent quality standards.
Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with bakery team members.
Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required by bakery operations.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
