We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Software Engineer.
In this role, you will:
• You will work with team handling application developed using Hadoop/CDP, Hive, Pentaho.
• You will work within the Data Engineering team and with the Lead Hadoop Data Engineer and Product Owner.
• You are expected to support existing application as well as design and build new Data Pipelines/ transformations. This application is Tier1 and critical for bank.
• You will be part of an agile team, take on complex problems and design and code. You are expected to participate in the technical innovation within your product area.
• Support ‘issue resolution’ and improve processing performance
• Ensure the use of SQL, Hive, Pentaho, Control-M reduces lead time to delivery and aligns to overall Group strategic direction so that cross-functional development is usable.
• Support application in UK shift as well as on-call support over night/weekend on rotation basis.
• HSBC promotes use of latest tools/technologies in market like Python, Cloud so learning attitude is must
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
• Strong understanding of Big Data, Hadoop, Pentaho ETL and capable of configuring data pipelines.
• Good knowledge of Industry Best Practice for ETL Design, Principles, Concepts.
• Possess the following technical skills – SQL, Hive, Unix, Control-M (or similar), Pentaho
• Ability to work independently on specialized assignments within the context of project deliverables
• Take ownership of providing solutions and tools that iteratively increase engineering efficiencies.
• Design should help embed standard processes, systems and operational models into the BAU approach for end-to-end execution of Data Pipelines
• Excellent communication skills & team player. Pentaho and Control-M, Agile/Jira understanding
