Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and personable Mechanic to join our team. If you don't like interacting with people then this may not be the right role for you! NEMO is not a typical bike shop or mobile bike repair company. We do things quite differently (sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse!). We practice humility and empathy for our customers in everything we do. We strive to operate with a small, tight-knit team so that we can provide consistent and well-paid work to our team members. There is a great opportunity here to grow and learn alongside a new business.
Responsibilities
• Making on-site, mobile bike repairs for our customers
• Riding our electric cargo bikes all around our to make repairs
• Working events with our team and representing NEMO in front of high profile clients (Harvard, Children’s Hospital, etc.)
• Maintaining our fleet of electric cargo bikes
• Communicate with our customers with empathy and understanding for their unique needs and life situations
• Proficiently utilize the range of apps and softwares required to make the NEMO model work (this job is much easier for folks who can easily pick up and learn new technologies).
• Be a team player, there are many circumstances where you can help or inconvenience another member of the team. It’s your job to choose the right path!
• Be comfortable working independently! On our busiest days you might barely interact with another team member in person.
Experience
• Prior experience working as a bike mechanic
• Familiarity with electric bikes and electric cargo bikes is preferred
• Experience in the service industry is also a big plus
• Ability to handle heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks associated with the role.
Compensation
• $20-$24/hr depending on experience
• We aim to pay above market wages in general because we know that this job is not typical
• Exact hourly wages are determined at the stage where we give you a job offer
