Job Information
As a +11 operator, you would play a pivotal role in the health and safety of NWT communities. The Bilingual Emergency Medical Dispatcher, NWT +-1-1 is a certified, licensed public safety telecommunicator responsible for providing safe and effective call-taking, processing and dispatch of emergency services within the Northwest Territories. This includes providing scene safety, self rescue, and pre-arrival medical instructions such as how to do CPR, choking maneuvers, and childbirth interventions as needed.
To be successful in this role you would have a certification in pre-hospital emergency medical care above Standard First Aid levels (e.g., Emergency Medical Dispatcher, Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic) plus six months experience as a first responder. Other combinations of relevant education and experience will be considered. Training and certification in NWT +-1-1 processes and systems will be provided before the incumbent begins to provide services.
Equivalencies
Certificate in Wilderness First aid with 6 months search and rescue experience.
