Job Description
Collect blood from donors, ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation protocols.
• Perform blood typing, cross-matching, and other laboratory tests to ensure compatibility of blood for transfusions.
• Prepare and label blood components, such as red cells, plasma, and platelets, for storage or distribution.
• Maintain accurate records of blood inventory, test results, and donor information using laboratory information systems (LIS).
• Monitor the storage and handling of blood products to ensure optimal conditions, including temperature and expiration dates.
• Follow protocols for blood testing, screening for infectious diseases, and quality control to meet regulatory standards.
• Assist in managing blood bank inventory, including ordering supplies and tracking blood product usage.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines such as those from the FDA, AABB, and other local health authorities.
