Role Description: Technology & Software Cost Optimization Lead

As a part of the bank's strategy to reduce costs by end of 2026 by approximately 6 billion euros to 17 billion euros, Technology, Data, and Infrastructure (TDI) is committed to deliver a significant portion of this target. To achieve this, we need to have a good understanding and transparency of the cost base and financial and execution discipline to deliver the saves.

The objectives of Chief Transformation Cost Office (CTCO) as part of TDI COO function, is to ensure senior management across TDI and Finance have insight into potential cost trajectories and impacts to TDI of all DB Group related activities. Actively engage with various DB Business areas and focus on optimising consumption costs that can be influenced. In collaboration with technology leaders and business consumers across the bank, the team is accountable for the provision of accurate, timely and consumable cost transparency that can be actively leveraged to drive value and cost efficiency and through three interconnected sub-functions; Product Cost Management & Allocations, Apptio Platform Management and Cost Optimisation. The team operates across TI, Business, Finance and Procurement as well as working with a variety of senior stakeholders including product and finance specialists, head of Functions, CIOs of Business Units and Management Board -1 senior executives.

The team is building a Cost Optimization unit to provide TDI senior management team, product managers and businesses (CEOs, COOs and CIOs) with monthly and quarterly analysis of the infrastructure costs of over €1.5bn pa by Business Area and contribute to identifying cost save opportunities.

Your key responsibilities:
• Leading an area of Technology cost such as ADC (Applications Development and Compliance) with an objective to identify cost save opportunities, reduce costs and work with CIO COO teams to ensure the ADC costs are correctly reflected in the reporting
• Leading software cost analysis and collaboration with others subject matters within the team and wider organisation to develop the right framework for allocating and reporting software costs
• Analysing monthly and quarterly Business Bill and preparing presentation packs for senior management teams across all major Business Units
• Collaboration with Product Owners, Transformation Programs Execution teams, Finance, TDI COO office, Commercial/ Vendor management team and others to identify drivers behind the changes in monthly costs and add insights to the business reports
• Addressing CIOs and Businesses' ad hoc queries and supporting cost deep dives
• Contribute to identifying cost saves through the analysis
• Working with other team members to ensure consistency of messages and presentation output, knowledge sharing across multiple work streams.

Your skills and experience

The team is looking for a Cost Optimization Lead with strong data modelling skills and experience with DB finance systems. Knowledge of Apptio tool is an advantage. The candidate is also expected to:
• Have driven consulting/cost optimization projects in the past
• A strong knowledge of technology and software products' cost base is desirable
• Strong stakeholder engagement and project management skills
• Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis to drive the proposed solution
• Consolidate findings and present it to senior management, have strong communication and Microsoft Office presentation skills
• Deliver high quality work sometimes under tight deadlines
• Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and have an analytical approach to problem solving
• Have positive attitude and able to constructively deal with uncertainty or complexity
• Be sufficiently motivated and ambitious to work on their own initiative without needing constant direction
