Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Ø Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and financial records accounting software.
Ø Monitor daily cash flow and manage bank deposits to ensure liquidity and banking accuracy.
Ø Prepare monthly financial reports including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analyses.
Ø Reconcile accounts payable and receivable, match purchase orders with supplier invoices, and ensure all obligations are recorded.
Ø Verify and record all transactions; investigate and report any discrepancies or irregularities to management.
Ø Prepare and file GST returns, assist with PAYE, and ensure compliance with other statutory tax obligations.
Ø Generate weekly reports covering sales, expenses, and inventory to assist with management review and decision-making.
Ø Support the preparation of annual budgets and expenditure forecasts.
Ø Liaise with store managers on inventory purchases, invoice matching, and petty cash usage reconciliation.
Ø Maintain records for staff leave, timesheets, and payroll summaries to support payroll processing and ensure accuracy.
Skills and Experience
A New Zealand Qualification Framework (NZQF) Level 4 or higher qualification, or an equivalent overseas qualification, in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
Applicants without a formal qualification must demonstrate a minimum of 2 years’ experience in bookkeeping, preferably within a retail or wholesale environment.
Understanding of New Zealand GST, PAYE, and related tax compliance requirements.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and ability to investigate anomalies.
Effective communicator, capable of collaborating with store managers, suppliers, and external accountants.
Highly organised, capable of prioritising tasks and meeting periodic reporting deadlines.
