Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant

Well established CPA firm of over 35 years is looking for a highly experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Staff Accountant. Located in Soho, we pride ourselves on our commitment to quality, honesty, and transparency with our clients. Over the years, we have developed strong relationships with clients, some of whom have been with us for over 10+ years. We want someone who has a strong background in accounting and taxation, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality service to our clients (individuals, business, estate and trust taxes) .
Key Responsibilities:
● Financial Record Keeping:
○ Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
○ Reconcile bank statements and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately.
● Accounts Management:
○ Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including billing, invoicing, and payment processing.
○ Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts.
● Financial Reporting:
○ Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
○ Analyze financial data to identify trends and discrepancies, providing insights to management for decision-making.
● Compliance and Accuracy:
○ Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
○ Assist with audits and implement improvements to financial processes and procedures.
● Support and Collaboration:
○ Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information and support business operations.
○ Provide support to senior accountants and management with special projects.
Qualifications:
● Education:
○ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
● Experience:
○ Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles.
○ Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks and Pro Series) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
● Skills:
○ Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
○ Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and reporting.
○ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data.
● Qualities:
○ High level of integrity and professionalism.
○ Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
○ Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environmen
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.50 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
