Responsibilities
Safely operate a variety of box trucks and tractor-trailers across designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
Load and unload freight efficiently using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transit.
Manage route driving responsibilities with precision, planning optimal paths to meet delivery schedules while minimizing delays.
Handle different types of freight including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and specialized equipment like dump trucks or roll-off trucks.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the vehicle, checking for mechanical issues, proper functioning of manual transmissions, brakes, lights, and refrigeration units.
Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, pickups, route logs, and incident reports to ensure compliance and accountability.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to confirm delivery times and resolve any issues that arise during transit.
Follow safety protocols diligently during load & unload procedures to prevent accidents or damage.
Qualifications
Proven experience in commercial driving or truck driving roles with a focus on over-the-road deliveries.
Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the type of truck operated (e.g., Refrigerated trailer, Tanker).
Experience operating manual transmission vehicles is highly preferred.
Familiarity with different truck types such as flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks is a plus.
Ability to load & unload freight safely using forklifts or other equipment when required.
Strong knowledge of route planning and navigation tools for efficient delivery scheduling.
Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Physical ability to handle loading tasks and long hours on the road; must be able to lift heavy freight when necessary.
