The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods efficiently and safely, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all traffic regulations. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a warehouse environment. This role involves driving and handling collections of items that weigh no more than 100kg.
Duties
Safely operate delivery vehicles, including flatbed lorries and vans, to transport goods to designated locations.
Planning routes logistically based on the locations desiring the collection of goods
Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
Complete necessary paperwork and maintain accurate records of collections.
Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage during transit.
Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential issues.
Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents.
Perform basic mechanical checks on vehicles and report any maintenance needs promptly.
Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while driving.
Qualifications
Valid commercial driving licence with appropriate endorsements for vehicle operation.
Previous experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role preferred.
Strong mechanical knowledge is advantageous for troubleshooting vehicle issues.
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with team members and customers.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a warehouse setting.
