What we are looking for:

We are searching for a Bushfire Risk Mitigation Officer to join our team. This newly created role is crucial in coordinating and overseeing delivery of Council’s Bushfire Mitigation Strategy to reduce the risk to life and property and natural resources.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fire management, environmental science, or a related field, coupled with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Working in a supportive team environment, you will work on a diverse range of projects supporting and improving bushfire prevention and preparedness.

What you should have to apply:

Degree qualification (AQF 7) in environmental science, fire ecology, natural resource management or similar, or equivalent worked experience

Experience in public safety (firefighting) or other relevant fields

Experience with fire management planning

Ability to engage with diverse audiences

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in high-pressure situations.

Current drivers’ licence

What’s nice to have:

First Aid Certificate

Level 3 Public Safety (Firefighter)

Use of GIS and field data collection devices
