ABOUT ICEM
ICEM Engineering is a 60-year-old heavy engineering company specializing in explosion-bonded clad plates, dished ends, rolled shells, cones, and pressure vessel components. With ASME U/R stamps, two manufacturing facilities, and a growing presence in domestic and international markets, ICEM is now expanding into complete equipment fabrication including skid-mounted packages and modular process systems.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a hungry, self-driven Business Development Engineer who will own the skid packages business end-to-end — from identifying opportunities to closing orders. This is a dedicated revenue-generation role. You will build this business line from scratch, develop the client base, and be directly responsible for order booking targets. This is not a support role — you are the business owner for skids at ICEM.
PRODUCTS YOU WILL SELL
Metering skids (oil, gas, water measurement systems)
Chemical injection skids / dosing skids
Fuel gas conditioning skids
Pump skids and booster skids
Fire water skids and deluge systems
Launcher/receiver skids for pipelines
Wellhead and production skids
Utility skids (air, nitrogen, water treatment)
Any custom modular/packaged process systems
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Generation (Primary)
Independently identify, pursue, and close skid package orders targeting ₹10–20 Cr annual order booking within 18–24 months
Build a pipeline of 30–50 active prospects across oil & gas operators, EPCs, gas processing plants, and offshore/onshore project owners
Conduct cold visits, technical presentations, and factory tours for prospective clients
Respond to inquiries and RFQs within 48 hours with technically sound proposals
Negotiate commercial terms and close orders independently up to approved limits
Market Development
Register ICEM as an approved vendor for skid packages at major EPCs (L&T, Technip, Wood, Toyo, Saipem, EIL, MECON) and end-users (ONGC, Oil India, Cairn/Vedanta, GAIL, HPCL, BPCL, IOCL)
Map the skid package buying ecosystem — who specifies, who buys, who influences — and build relationships at each level
Track upcoming projects through project intelligence databases, industry contacts, and EPC award announcements
Represent ICEM at industry exhibitions, conferences, and networking events
Technical & Proposal Support
Work with ICEM’s design and estimation team to develop skid layout concepts, preliminary GAs, and cost estimates for proposals
Prepare technical bid documents, compliance statements, and qualification packages
Coordinate with third-party vendors (instrument suppliers, valve suppliers, control panel makers) for bought-out item pricing
Support project execution team during order execution on client-facing matters (design reviews, inspections, FAT)
TARGET CLIENT SEGMENTS
Oil & gas exploration and production companies (ONGC, Oil India, Cairn/Vedanta, HOEC, Prize Petroleum)
Gas processing and distribution (GAIL, GSPL, Adani Gas, AG&P, petronet LNG terminals)
Refineries and petrochemical complexes (IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, MRPL, Nayara, RIL)
City gas distribution (CGD) companies and pipeline operators
EPCs serving oil & gas sector (L&T Hydrocarbon, Technip, Saipem, Toyo, Wood, Afcons)
Offshore platform operators and FPSO/FSO contractors
Water and wastewater treatment EPC contractors (for utility skids)
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Must Have
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Chemical, or Instrumentation Engineering
3–10 years of experience in selling fabricated equipment, skids, or process packages to the oil & gas or process industry
Demonstrated track record of independently generating inquiries and closing orders (not just supporting a senior person)
Working knowledge of P&IDs, GA drawings, and basic process understanding of skid systems
Familiarity with oil & gas procurement processes, vendor registration requirements, and tendering systems
Willingness to travel extensively (60–70% of time) across India to meet clients and attend site visits
Excellent communication skills — ability to present to both technical and procurement audiences
Strong Preference For
Candidates from existing skid fabricators (Larsen & Toubro, Axon, Pentagon, Chemtrols, Emerson local partners, ABB process automation) or oil & gas equipment companies
Existing relationships with ONGC, GAIL, Cairn, or major oil & gas EPCs
Experience with PESO/CCOE compliance, OISD standards, or IBR requirements for skid packages
Exposure to instrumentation and control systems integrated into skids (not just mechanical fabrication)
Not Required
MBA or post-graduate degree — we value field experience and order-booking track record over academic qualifications
Prior team management experience — this is an individual contributor role focused on personal order generation
COMPENSATION & INCENTIVES
Travel expenses: Fully reimbursed as per company policy
Growth path: As the skid business grows, the role evolves into heading the skid business unit with team-building responsibility
