The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Marketing & Place Activation, the Business Liaison Coordinator is a dynamic and diverse role within the Chief Executive’s Office, supporting the Council’s business sector through networking, place activation, marketing and event coordination. The position serves as a key liaison for local businesses and internal stakeholders to help drive initiatives that strengthen precinct identity, increase visitation and support economic activity.
You will proactively engage with businesses in our City to understand their goals, challenges, and opportunities, ensuring their needs are represented and supported. With your keen eye, you will identify and develop opportunities to showcase and promote local businesses through targeted marketing campaigns, activations and strategic partnerships. Adding your caring nature, you will provide timely support and clear communication to businesses during peak periods, major events, or disruptions (such as infrastructure works), helping to minimise impacts and maximise opportunities.
About You
You are a proactive and highly organised professional with a passion for supporting local business communities and creating vibrant places. You bring strong relationship-building skills, a collaborative approach and the ability to manage a varied workload across marketing, stakeholder engagement and project coordination.
You will have:
Tertiary qualifications in business, marketing, communications or a similar field.
Experience in marketing, events, communications/public relations, business development or affiliated field.
Strong communication skills (oral and written), including report writing.
Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Effective time, project, and event management skills.
Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and work with a high level of autonomy.
Knowledge of local government processes and the local business environment will be highly regarded.
