Details: ACT Education is seeking aspiring and/or experienced Business Leaders to join a Merit Pool for upcoming or unexpected backfill of Business Manager roles across our schools.
Business Managers play a vital operational and strategic role within school environments. Although each placement may differ, schools rely on their Business Manager to uphold smooth daily operations, foster positive relationships with families and staff, and contribute to the overall functioning of the school. The role supports principals by ensuring systems, structures, and resources are aligned to school needs, enabling teachers and leaders to focus on student learning.
This Merit Pool will support multiple schools for short‑term vacancies over a 12‑month period. Successful applicants must be adaptable and confident transitioning between different contexts. We seek Business Managers who can quickly build rapport, understand their operating environment, and deliver high‑quality business support. No matter the setting, the Business Manager contributes to maintaining safe, well‑run, and welcoming environments where students can thrive.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to: Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra.
Asbestos Awareness card or a willingness to obtain - Asbestos Awareness Training and evidence of completion delivered by a Registered Training Organisation is required prior to or on commencement of this role, for further information refer to: Asbestos Awareness Training - WorkSafe ACT
Highly desirable:
Qualification or equivalent in Business Administration, Finance or
Experience in a business-related role and financial qualifications and/or relevant experience.
Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
Knowledge of Xero and Sentral packages
First Aid qualification. A First Aid Certificate or a willingness to undertake appropriate training.
Notes: These are temporary positions available immediately for a period of up to 12 months with the possibility of permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
