Job Title: Experienced Cafe Chef
Location: Windsor
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports to: Cafe Manager / Owner
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Cafe Chef to take the lead in our kitchen. This role is perfect for someone with solid culinary experience in a cafe or brunch-style kitchen who thrives in a fast-paced, quality-focused environment. You’ll be responsible for preparing and delivering fresh, consistent meals while managing the kitchen efficiently and upholding high standards of hygiene and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook high-quality breakfast, brunch, and lunch items with consistency
Maintain excellent food presentation and portion control
Lead kitchen operations, including prep, stock rotation, and ordering
Ensure compliance with food safety, cleanliness, and hygiene standards at all times
Manage kitchen during peak service periods and maintain calm under pressure
Assist in designing and updating the menu, including daily or seasonal specials
Monitor food cost, minimise waste, and manage kitchen inventory
Train and supervise junior kitchen staff or kitchen hands when required
Maintain a clean and well-organised kitchen environment
Requirements:
Minimum 2–3 years experience in a similar cafe or short-order kitchen role
Strong knowledge of breakfast, brunch, and casual cafe-style cuisine
Proven ability to work independently and manage a small kitchen team
Excellent time management and multitasking skills
Passion for quality food and presentation
Up-to-date knowledge of food safety and OH&S practices
Flexibility to work weekends, early mornings, and public holidays as needed
Relevant commercial cookery qualifications and/or Food Safety Certificate (preferred)
