Full job description
We're a camera and video production gear rental house in downtown Vancouver and are looking for a new person who has excellent attention to detail, is friendly to work with and most importantly knows the offerings of companies like Insta360, Blackmagic, Sigma, DJI, Cooke, Aputure, DZO, Sirui, SmallHD, Nanlite, Tilta, Quasar, Miller, Sachtler, Rode, Atlas, Kessler, Godox, Sennheiser, Hollyland, Matthews, Vaxis, Shape, and more.
If you don’t know what all of those companies do while reading this, this is not the right position for you and the first interview will be very short.
Having said that, we do not care if you have a degree from a film school at all for this position... If you’re self taught videographer off Youtube videos, that’s just fine. We are looking for someone who has real in field experience in multiple areas of videopgraphy, filmmaking and video production such as corporate/commercial work, live events, music videos, weddings, short films and so on. Knowledge of photography only will not be enough as 90% of our business is dealing with video production and filmmaking rentals and you will need to speak the filmmaking/video trade from day 1.
You will also need to be a people person! Half of the job is working with clients to go through their gear, give them advice, show them how things work, and so on. You will not be hiding in the back of the office hoarding gear like you’re in a Hobbit movie, you will be talking with lots of other shooters every day.
The core of the job will revolve around:
-Prepping client gear lists.
-Checking gear in and out with clients
-Testing all the equipment after return from rentals
-Giving advice to clients on what type of camera/lighting/audio setups
-Walking clients through gear and giving them basic instructions.
A few things about the job:
-This is a full time 5 day per week position. We're open Monday through Saturday but have a flexible schedule. You must be able to work Mondays, Fridays, and probably Saturdays (with some flexibility on Saturdays).
-Comfortable knowledge of computer systems, updating firmware, etc…
-Ability to work with precision, attention to detail and without mistakes in prepping gear. We put our clients first and that requires perfectly prepared equipment for them.
-This position is at our office downtown, not virtual. You need to legally be able to work in Canada and be living here already. You need to speak and write solid English.
What do we offer in return (besides you know... money)
-We're flexible with hours around any shoots or personal projects you may have. Everyone on our staff still shoots in some kind of way so we’re willing to give you chunks of time off (within reason) to do projects.
-We give you a monthly budget of gear to take on your own shoots for free.
If you want to be considered for this job, you must include a cover letter, and bonus points if you make it funny. If you don't include a cover letter, we're going to delete your application because we know you either didn't read our whole post and are just spamming resumes. Your cover letter is going to further to getting you an interview than your resume.
