Adbim Recruitment is recruiting Care Assistants for our client based in Essex.
Position Overview:
The Care Assistant plays a vital role in providing compassionate and high-quality care to residents in a care home setting. Working under the guidance of senior staff, the Care Assistant will assist residents with their daily activities, ensure their well-being, and contribute to maintaining a safe and comfortable environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care
Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, and maintaining personal hygiene.
Support residents in using the restroom, changing bed linens, and managing incontinence, while respecting their dignity and privacy.
Medication Assistance
Administer medications to residents as prescribed, adhering to established protocols and documentation procedures.
Monitor and record residents' medication intake and report any discrepancies or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Meal Assistance
Help residents with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring dietary requirements are met.
Encourage and support residents in maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet.
Mobility and Transfers
Assist residents with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment and techniques to ensure their safety and well-being.
Encourage and support residents in engaging in physical activities and exercises as directed by healthcare professionals.
Emotional and Social Support
Foster positive relationships with residents, offering emotional support and companionship.
Engage residents in conversation, activities and recreational programs to promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
Documentation
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of residents' care plans, activities and any observations.
Communicate effectively with the care team, sharing relevant information and updates regarding residents' needs and well-being.
Safety and Hygiene
Ensure a clean and safe environment for residents, including regular cleaning of living spaces and common areas.
Adhere to infection control and health and safety protocols, contributing to the prevention of accidents and incidents.
Communication
Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families and other team members to ensure holistic and person-centred care.
Effectively communicate residents' needs, preferences and any changes in their condition to appropriate individuals.
Qualifications and Skills:
GCSE or equivalent required; certification or training in healthcare, nursing, or caregiving is a plus.
Previous experience as a care assistant or in a similar caregiving role is preferred.
Compassionate and patient demeanour, with a genuine interest in the well-being of elderly residents.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work effectively within a team, taking direction from senior staff and contributing positively to the care environment.
Basic understanding of medical terminology, infection control, and health and safety practices.
Empathy, sensitivity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and respect residents' rights and privacy.
Physical Requirements:
The role may involve standing, walking, lifting, and assisting residents with mobility.
Ability to lift and carry moderate loads, such as assisting residents in transfers or moving equipment.
Working Conditions:
The role is typically based in a care home environment, which may involve exposure to various odours and noises.
Shift work, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, may be required to ensure 24/7 coverage for residents' care needs.
