Position Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Carpenter constructs, repairs and maintains structures throughout the hospital in accordance with the established standards of the trade.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Grade 12 education with an Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Carpenter (Certificate of Qualification 403A)
Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Carpenter
4 years apprenticeship training with a demonstrated knowledge of the tools, equipment, methods and practices of the carpentry trade.
Ability to work from plans, drawings, verbal instructions, with minimum supervision.
Numerical ability is needed to estimate materials and to measure.
Verbal ability is necessary to communicate with workers and other members of hospital staff.
Ability to evaluate information against measurable criteria and to work within set standards.
Proficient in the use of computers and electronic devices
Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Constructs, repairs and maintains structures such as partition walls, ceilings, casework, and other parts of hospital buildings (interior and exterior), including doors, locks, windows, floors, etc.at all campuses including Charlton Ave & King St. sites
Reads and/or makes drawings to determine procedure of constructing casework, partitions, cabinets, countertops, etc.
Calculates and gives estimates, choosing materials and estimating time required to complete job.
Adheres to all safety regulations and ensures tools and work area are maintained to standard.
Responsible for maintaining inventory, including ordering supplies or materials needed for a specific job.
Drywall installation/repairs throughout hospital as well as taping and finishing.
Assists other tradesmen as required.
Door install/repairs with all door associated hardware, closures, door handles, cores etc.
Cut, Replace ceiling tiles, and repair and / or install ceiling grid
Receive work direction and close out work received, electronically.
Able to work in emergency situations.
Work with minimum supervision
Work on all ceiling grids
Comply with work load measures.
Performs and carries out other duties and assignments as directed by his/her Supervisor or other Maintenance management staff
WAGE RATE:
Hourly: $35.14...$35.81...$36.47
