Job description
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Carpenter & Joiner in HMP Manchester, 1 Southall Street, Manchester M60 9AH.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week. Staff are required to work on a rota basis between Saturday to Thursday 08:00 - 17:00; Friday 08:00 - 16:00 . There will be a need to work 1 in 4 weekends, but this would be on a rota basis (and with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary).

At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons. By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.
What you will do:
• Carry out joinery work to include repairing of doors, windows, signposts, formwork and other bespoke timber items.
• Responsible for joinery workshop - maintenance of machines, statutory inspections, housekeeping and cleanliness.
• Measure and quote for works.
• Order materials and maintain stock of Building Maintenance material.
What you will bring:
• Organisation in work, with attention to detail.
• Manual tool handling.
• Ladder use.
• Level 3 in Joinery & Carpentry is required; however we may consider applications if you have NVQ level 2.
• Experience in Maintenance.

Looking for the stability of a permanent carpentry job? Fed up of chasing gigs around the UK? Want the opportunity to progress with real training?

You’ll be using your carpentry and joinery experience around our various small hospitals, GP surgeries, pharmacies and health centres in a mobile role around Dudley, Wolverhampton and Stourbridge.
The work will include fitting fire doors, repairing doors, fixtures and fitting and keeping on top of general wear and tear of the building fabric.
Working hours are Monday – Friday; 8am – 4:30pm.
As this is working in an NHS environment we will need you have a formal qualification like a City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry or Joinery to be considered.
What we are really looking for is a strong professional who is in a position in their career where a providing quality fixes in a long-term role with great work life balance is the top priority.
