The Candidate we are Looking for:
JAX Builders is looking for a Carpenter/Laborer to assist our Superintendent on ground up and renovation projects in Calgary and surrounding areas. Fair hourly wage to be negotiated with the successful candidate and Vacation Pay is paid on every pay period as per the Alberta Construction Labor Laws. JAX Builders has a company benefits program that is 100% paid by the employer.
JAX Builders requires hard skills but is looking for a candidate who will fit with our hard working, exciting culture. Our goal is to find a candidate who will want to remain with our company long term and work into the role of Superintendent to manage our projects at a site level.
The projects will require the following skills.
Wood backing, plywood wall installations, light concrete form work for site components, door and frame install, general clean up/site organization, furniture installs, and finish carpentry. Some skills with touch ups, deficiencies, paint, caulking, drywall repair would be great as well.
Ability to operate skid steers and mini excavators would be an asset.
Out of town availability is occasionally required. JAX Builders will pay all out of town expenses and km’s to the site. Most of our projects are in Edmonton but we currently have a couple projects that are 1-2 hours outside of Edmonton. A valid driver’s license and vehicle are required.
Responsibilities:
- Help supervise and lead a team of workers in various construction projects
- Assist the Superintendent on daily tasks and sub trade management to keep our projects moving ahead on schedule and on budget.
- Coordinate and assign tasks to project team members
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget by actively involving yourself in daily project tasks and management.
- Monitor and maintain quality control standards.
- Collaborate with the Superintendent to develop work plans and schedules.
- Perform carpentry tasks with hand tools and help oversee the work of concrete forming, drywall, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, tile work, roofing, exterior finishes, flooring, and other finishing trades.
- Perform small paint touchups, drywall repairs, door & hardware installs.
- We pride ourselves on working hard and the successful candidate will have a strong work ethic and a "get it done" attitude.
- This role will involve a lot of hands on work, on the tools.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00-$38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 38 – 60 per week
