Job Description
Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials
Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems
Job Duties:
Reading and interpreting blueprints
Understanding customer requirements
Responding to change orders
Managing peers (dividing job tasks, working as a team)
Managing or working with subcontractors
Training apprentices and/or coworkers
Recommending job improvements, alternative methods, etc. (problem solve)
Knowledge of building codes and regulations
Knowledge of job site safety rules and regulations (Occupational Health and Safety)
Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in carpentry

Carpentry: 3 years (preferred)
framing: 3 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
Fall Protection (preferred)
Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) (preferred)
