Carpenters perform a variety of tasks, including building and repairing structures, installing fixtures, and finishing details: Construction Carpenters build and repair building frameworks and structures, such as stairways, door frames, partitions, and rafters. They may also put up frames for bridges, roads, dams, and buildings. Installation Carpenters install floor joists, floorboards, roof trusses, wall partitions, doors, windows, cabinets, and crown molding. They may also create home furnishings such as tables, chairs, stools, and bed frames. Finishing Carpenters add finishing touches to a build, such as installing flooring, cabinets, and crown molding. They may also fit interiors such as staircases, doors, skirting boards, cupboards, and kitchens. Other tasks Carpenters may also measure, mark up, cut, shape, and fit timber. They may need to read and interpret blueprints, review building codes, and evaluate woodwork and materials for quality
