Carpenter - Multi-Skilled

North London

Salary: £37,490 - £39,463

The Role

We are recruiting for an experienced multi-skilled Carpenter with experience of working within a social housing or local authority environment. You will undertake carpentry and other trade repairs and maintenance work, to provide high quality, ‘right first time’, cost effective building services to the business and its customers.

To be considered for this position it is essential that you have the ability to undertake associated trade tasks within competency, NVQ2 qualification or equivalent and long term relevant trade experience. Please only apply if you have experience working as a carpenter with extended skills having previously worked in social housing.

You will conduct work in accordance with current legislation, British Standards, Codes of Practice, safe systems of work and recognised industrial standards for such work, minimizing damage to the fabric of the property.

You will need a full driving licence and will be provided with your own Metworks van for working hours.

To meet our commitment to providing safe, high quality services to our customers we will complete a standard background check with the Disclosure and Barring service, once an offer of employment is made. As standard you will be added to the DBS updating service with a new check being carried out on a 3 yearly basis. The cost of a DBS will be paid for by the organisation.

Joiner/Carpenter

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday 08:00-17:00

Salary: £38,928.71 per annum

Working Hours: Permanent, Full Time, 40 hours per week

Location: Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA5 1UD

G4S are looking for a Joiner/Carpenter which will involve supporting the Operations and Project Manager in the delivery of fit out and building fabric alteration works. Working across a range of minor building fabric projects including project inception and planning. The successful applicant will be skilled in working with wood, plasterboard and door hanging the project carpenter will be required to complete a number of minor building reconfigurations across a dynamic site. The list of skills and duties is not exhaustive however a full range of general handyman tasks are required to be performed in order to fulfil this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Dismantle and erect walls and ceilings.

• Tape and joint plasterboard.

• Hang internal wooden doors and fix ironmongery.

• Paint and decorate.

• Cut in internal and external windows.

• Perform general handyman and reactive repair tasks.

• Execute planned workspace re-engineering.

• Raise work requests via CAFM.

• Assist in reviewing CAD layouts for minor building fabric.

• Act as an Accompanying Safety Person.

• Provide holiday/sickness cover for the FM maintenance team.

• Complete daily plant monitoring.

• Maintain the Company's professional image.

• Collaborate with other maintenance staff for cross-skilling.

• Supervise and coordinate subcontractors.

• Perform maintenance inspections and repairs on various assets, building fabric, and estate.

• Participate in on-call duties.

Essential requirements:

• Experienced Joiner/Carpenter

• Experience of general building fabric alterations

• Experience of working with plasterboard (tape and joint)

• Full, clean driving licence
