Full job descriptionWe are general building construction company based in Reading Berkshire. Established in 2021. We undertake a wide variety of projects ranging from general building works, external refurbishment, refurbishment of commercial/residential properties to reactive maintenance works. Some of our clients include but are not limited to.We believe in offering beneficial employment to staff and to assist them in progressing in their career. We are looking to take on a number of skilled carpenters to join our company on a permanent basis. An ideal candidate must have the following qualities:
• Be punctual.
• Be reliable.
• Must have a clean criminal record.
• Be willing to work on their own or within a team.
• Own their own set of tools although specialist tools will be provided.
• Measure for materials.
• Have experience in the residential and commercial sectors.
basic set of skills in most construction disciplines.
• Overall have a good knowledge in site tasks.

There are no specific qualifications required to work as a carpenter in the UK, but there are several ways to gain the skills and experience needed:
• Apprenticeship: A common way to become a carpenter, apprenticeships combine practical experience with theoretical knowledge. Some apprenticeships offer jobs at the end. To start an apprenticeship, you'll typically need at least two GCSEs in English and Maths.
• College course: You can take a college qualification such as a Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery, or a T Level in On Site Construction. To take a level 2 course, you'll need at least two GCSEs at grades + to 3, or equivalent.
• NVQ: A popular option is to complete an NVQ Level 2 Carpentry qualification. This qualification demonstrates that you can complete carpentry work competently and professionally.
• Portfolio of work: You can build a portfolio of work to demonstrate your competence.
Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA): Experienced carpenters can take the EWPA to gain their NVQ.
In addition to qualifications, carpenters need to have physical strength, manual dexterity.
Responsibilities
• Utilize hand and power tools to perform carpentry and joinery tasks effectively.
• Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials.
• Collaborate with other tradespeople to complete projects, including roofing, plumbing, and electrical work.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes throughout the construction process.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working order to ensure efficiency and safety on the job site.
