The Job – Carpentry Labourer

Labourers at On Side are important team members who, help rebuild and restore damaged personal and commercial property, anywhere and anytime disaster strikes. Labourers are the MVP of the restoration teams. Willing to learn, love being taught and full of ambition the Labourer knows they’re going places in life and this is the first stop on the way to success!

What you bring…

Labourers bring a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a ‘get it done!’ attitude. Additional abilities required include:

Experience and desire to do physical work

Understanding and experience using hand and power tools

Experience with in-home renovations

Curious nature, always want to know how things happen

Strong people, teamwork and communication skills

Attention to detail, ability to follow directions

A safety mindset

Valid driver’s licence and a clean criminal record (we do check)

Ability to communicate in English

Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory:

Experienced in construction, particularly demolition

Carpentry background

WHMIS

First Aid

Of Note

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

This position is assisting Carpenters and Drywallers. Why will you be the best person for this position?

Restoration work requires documentation and tracking throughout your workday. Do you have basic computer and/or tablet/iPad experience? Are you comfortable operating a phone to navigate through applications and record info as instructed?

Are you comfortable driving a medium sized cargo truck/fleet vehicle around the city and parking in residential streets? If not experienced, are you willing to learn?

Are you able to provide a clean driver's abstract?

Are you physically fit? Can you lift 50lbs and walk upstairs when required? Are you capable of repetitive heavy lifting? Moving supplies, furniture, appliances, and boxes are the norm in this position so being physically capable is a requirement.

Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule (responding to emergency calls after hours)? This is additional to scheduled day time hours. Overtime is paid.

Restoration work can be dirty. Flooded basements and sewer backups are the norm. Are you able and willing to work in these conditions and use the proper PPE provided to you?
