About the opportunity

We are seeking Casual Research Assistants to support the nationwide OCEAN Study (Occasions of Care Explained and Analysed), which investigates the experiences of health professionals working in general practice.

In this role, you will assist the research team by contacting Practice Managers and health professionals (e.g. nurses and physiotherapists) who have been invited to participate in the study. These individuals will have previously received written invitations, and your responsibility will be to follow up by phone to encourage participation and address any questions they may have.

This role is essential in ensuring participant engagement and accurate data collection. It requires a confident communicator who is comfortable making phone calls, can speak clearly and professionally, and is skilled in record-keeping. You will also be expected to liaise with other members of the research team to ensure consistency and compliance with the study’s requirements.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

professionally engage Practice Managers and health professionals via telephone to encourage participation in the OCEAN study

provide accurate information about the study and respond to participant queries

maintain meticulous records of all interactions using both paper and digital systems

liaise with the research team and report regularly on progress and feedback from participants

undertake ad-hoc projects and other activities

About You

strong verbal communication skills and a clear speaking voice

ability to speak professionally and confidently with health professionals

high level of maturity, reliability, and discretion

excellent attention to detail with meticulous record-keeping skills (both paper-based and digital)

ability to work both independently and as part of a research team
