Overall Accountability
Interpreters will work with Calgary Catholic personnel to provide effective interpretive services that facilitate clear communication for limited and non-English speakers.
Specific Accountabilities
Performs interpreting service for limited and non-English speakers and staff, ensuring integrity, accuracy and impartiality, in accordance with policies, practices, regulations and guidelines for interpreters
Works collaboratively with personnel in a variety of situations related to the educational needs of the student
Participates in ongoing professional development and training
Ensures their contact information is current (i.e. payment, interpreter contact list)
Ensures time sheets are completed and submitted in a timely manner
Provides service in a positive professional manner at all times to students, families and staff
Interpreter positions with Calgary Catholic are dependent upon interpreter availability and language needs
Qualifications
High School diploma
Successful completion of either CILIAST or ILISAT language proficiency test
Knowledge of the school system in Alberta preferred as Interpreters will work within the culture and guidelines of Calgary Catholic
We are currently looking for: Amharic, Tigrinya, Bilen, Nuer, Dinka, Albanian, Malayalam and Kinyarwanda
