Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Procurement professional to join our Procurement team in M&S. As a business, we are currently undergoing a transformation across all business units that will ensure it is able to thrive in the increasingly competitive retail environment in the long term.
In this role you will help lead the development of the team to become key business partners across M&S, evolving the Procurement strategy to be recognised as part of M&S success.
The Logistics area is pivotal to the success of our business (with c£200m spend p/a/) and in this role you'll bring your detailed knowledge of the logistics automation and engineering (automation, spare parts, maintenance regimes, engineering structures, depot fit out and building works) and construction projects marketplace to the table. You'll also have a track record of delivering commercial solutions to senior partners.
Please note this role is a 14 month fixed term contract.

What you’ll do
Your key accountabilities will include
• Category Management of Automation, engineering and depot construction/building and maintenance – Foods Logistics, Clothing and Home and International.
• Build meaningful and close relationships and advise business leaders on commercial strategy and contractual solutions, including SLA’s and contractual remedies. Drive commercial change within the business to deliver value and ensuring there is always a balance between cost and service.
• Be a procurement business partner to operations – able to challenge, advise and support partners and suppliers to deliver more for our customers.
• Identification of continuous improvement opportunities and driving the operational teams to improve and change.
• Particular emphasis should be a focus on automation (suppliers e.g. Knapp, Dematic, Witron, SwissLog), automation maintenance, automation spare parts, depot construction, depot racking, fit out and building works.
Who you are
Your skills and experience will include
• Detailed Procurement experience gathered across the logistics automation and logistics construction and engineering.
• Specific expertise/experience in building relationships and driving value in logistics automation and engineering projects and initiatives.
• Proven record across complex large scale negotiations covering commercial, service levels, gainshares, engineering people structures and maintenance regimes.
• Strong communication, influencing and networking skills across senior business leaders.
• Expertise in commercial models and legal contracts including SLA’s/remedies across the logistics category.
