Job Description
• Understand the Credit Ecosystem - Tools & Applications, Policies, Procedures, Guidelines, Systems required to perform the Credit Analysis of Real Estate Borrowers
• Independently prepare credit risk analysis reports on assigned clients (business & financial analysis and focusing on credit issues). Recommend rating grades based on analysis for the clients and facilities/exposures
• Build expertise in the North America Commercial Real Estate sector; as well as in analyzing Real estate Operating Companies & Real Estate Investment Trusts
• Develop and maintain open communication channels with Underwriters and Credit Executives. Independently handle all calls/rating discussions with Underwriters and Credit Executives
• Portfolio Management: Enhanced, improved and in-depth portfolio monitoring; Coordination with CRE Market Surveillance team; Interact with Real Estate Banking Risk Underwriting Team, Client Executives, and other internal product partners
• Build strong knowledge of clients; regularly track sector and regulatory developments on an on-going basis; Continuously monitor the client portfolio for risk rating appropriateness and perform off-cycle risk rating changes as needed
• Internal Systems Data Management: system data ownership, quality and timely updates for internal reporting and portfolio reviews
• Controls and Compliance: monitor loans for covenant, reporting, and regulatory compliance
• Mentor and train junior analysts in the team on fundamentals of credit risk analysis, internal systems & processes; and supervise/ review their work
• Contribute to various firm-wide projects focused on improving efficiencies, risk technology, enhancing risk reporting, regulatory compliance, etc.
Qualifications: MBAs (with Finance specialization) / CA
• 5-8 years of experience in credit risk; experience in real estate sector is preferred
• Strong understanding of corporate finance and financial statements, including ratio analysis, cash flow analysis, and basic accounting principles
• Good knowledge of various banking facilities/products (such as term loans, counterparty lines, etc.) and their documentation
• Attitude and aptitude to learn and enhance knowledge of credit risk analysis; and passion for real estate sector
• Deadline orientation; strong attention to detail and high accuracy
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft desktop tools (MS Word, Excel and Power Point) and ability to learn new tools, techniques and applications
• Ability to work proactively & independently, as well as in a team environment
• Strong & Effective communication skills - both verbal & written; and good interpersonal skills to be able to effectively present analysis and build strong relationships with stakeholders at various hierarchies
