Avantor is looking for a Cell Biology Research Technician to join the team based in Cambridge. In this position you’ll be part of the team that is responsible for delivery of support activities to our client’s cell culture and banking science function and operating in accordance with respective H&S and GLS requirements.
This role will be a part-time temporary position (12-months FTC), based in brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Next to an attractive salary, we offer multiple benefits such as pension scheme, private medical and dental care and additional day off for your birthday.
Working hours: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday from 8:00/+:00 until 16:00/17:00. In total 32 hours a week.
The Team
You’ll be a part of newly established Cell Biology group of 3. The team is responsible for a range of laboratory tasks including cell culture, cell harvesting, cell banking, QC sampling, associated documentation and tracker updates and handover from and to the science team pre and post shift.
You’ll be part of initial test phase pilot programme, with a possibility for the position to become a permanent upon the successful completion of the project.
What we're looking for
• Education: Biological Science Degree or equivalent experience
• Experience:
• Multiple years’ experience operating within a cell science laboratory performing cell culture techniques and cell biology related activities
• Cell and tissue culture and aseptic techniques
• Using IT systems, platforms and generic applications (training provided for on in house specifics), proficient in Excel
• Proven ability to flex to meet task re-prioritisation and to work efficiently in a team with minimal supervision
• Laboratory knowledge of research processes and procedures, compliance to Health and Safety regulations and requirements

• Quality Control sample preparation and testing
• Data entry and data analysis using packages including Microsoft Office
