Senior Software Engineer – Distributed Storage & Infrastructure
About The Role
We are building a new team dedicated to advancing large-scale distributed storage systems. As a senior engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping how we design, operate, and scale data infrastructure that powers mission-critical workloads across diverse environments. This position blends hands-on engineering with systems design, offering the opportunity to influence architecture while also diving deep into operational challenges.
What You’ll Do
• Design, implement, and optimize large-scale storage systems using Ceph at petabyte scale, ensuring reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Work across the full lifecycle—building automation, deploying software across hybrid environments, and driving operational excellence.
• Develop and maintain Kubernetes-native workflows with Helm charts and operators, leveraging Rook where applicable.
• Contribute code in languages such as Golang, Java, C/C++, or Rust, while also writing automation and tooling in scripting languages.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, product, and platform teams to integrate storage systems into broader distributed environments.
• Balance responsibilities between software engineering and SRE-style operations—troubleshooting, debugging, and scaling production systems.
• Engage in systems design discussions, focusing on distributed architectures, performance, and durability trade-offs.
Who You Are
• Experienced in working with Ceph at scale—ideally in environments managing petabytes of data.
• Deep expertise with Kubernetes and its ecosystem, including Helm and operators; experience with Rook is a strong plus.
• Hands-on development experience with Golang preferred, though strong engineers with backgrounds in Java, C/C++, or Rust will also thrive.
• Comfortable deploying software in both cloud and on-premises environments, handling a wide variety of customer configurations.
• Familiar with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
• Skilled in reading, understanding, and debugging complex codebases—stronger emphasis on system comprehension and design rather than pure algorithmic challenges.
• Adaptable to varied profiles: whether stronger in software engineering or in SRE/operations, you bring the ability to thrive in both domains.
• Open to unconventional career paths if you bring demonstrable expertise with Ceph and related tooling.

This new Ceph-focused team will include engineers with a mix of skill sets—some leaning toward core software development, others toward reliability and operations. Expect a balance of coding and infrastructure work, with flexibility for those who are stronger in one area but willing to stretch across both. Compensation
Compensation packages are highly competitive and tailored to the candidate’s experience and background. For senior engineers, total compensation can reach up to $460,000. While official ranges may appear broad due to entry-level roles being included, please note that offers are flexible and aligned with top engineering talent, including individuals from leading technology companies.
