Job Description
We are offering a unique entry-level position with the opportunity to build a career in analytical science. This role provides the opportunity to work with the cereal analytics team, analysing the international end-use quality characteristics of multiple cereal species, whether it’s wheat for bread or barley for beer. This would be an ideal starting role for anyone looking to start a career in cereal analytics, with all relevant training provided.
Responsibilities
• Sample preparation, such as milling and grinding of samples by various methods. Weighing of grains and flour within specified tolerances.
• Routine analysis of samples for cereal quality characteristics such as grain hardness, protein & starch content.
• Operate and understand the use of various instruments and machinery within the laboratory. For example, mills, scales, NIRs, and starch related enzyme assays
Skills and Qualifications
• Positive attitude and enthusiasm
• Eager to learn in a laboratory environment
• Excellent attention to detail
• Comfortable operating specialist machinery (training will be provided)
• Would suit a practically minded individual with minimum of GCSE or equivalent pass in Maths, English and Science, and basic I.T skills
