About the Role
The role of the Cervical Screening Coordinator is to assist with the achievement of health goals and targets nationally led by the National Cervical Screening Programme (NCSP) to improve the health of our population against Cervical Cancer and related HPV Cancers. This position will ensure high-quality cervical screening through planning, education, coordination, administration, documentation, quality data input and health promotion. The Cervical Screening Coordinator will deliver services in accordance with the relevant service specifications and standards set out by the Ministry of Health and the National Cervical Screening Programme.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse Cervical Screener to join the National Cervical Screening Programme (NCSP) Southern Team within the Community and Whanau Wellbeing Team. The role focuses on delivering culturally safe cervical screening services in clinics and the community, improving access for wāhine Māori and Pacific women. Working alongside kaimahi and registered nurses, you'll build trusting relationships, support outreach, and collaborate with stakeholders to raise awareness and participation in cervical and HPV screening programmes, helping reduce inequities and empower participants to take ownership of their health.

About you
You're passionate about improving health inequities and women's health, with excellent customer service and communication skills. You bring cultural awareness, uphold the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, and have experience working with whānau and communities. Flexible and innovative, you collaborate effectively with Māori communities, primary care staff, and stakeholders in a whānau-centric way. Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office and strong organisational abilities round out your profile.
To thrive in this role, you must have or be willing to achieve:
Current RN Practising Certificate (Nursing Council of NZ)
Post-graduate qualification (or working towards) in the specialty
Expert-level practice on the RN Professional Development and Recognition Programme
A certified screen taker and knowledge of the NCSP and services
Registered Nurse with a minimum of 5 years clinical experience.
Proficient at using technology within the workplace
Strong and successful experience in leading and delivering comprehensive assessments and workin in collaboration with people, their whanau and stakeholders to ensure best possible outcomes
A strong commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for wāhine Māori and Pacific women / participants
Demonstrated competency in Mātauranga Māori and the application of Māori health models to nursing practice
Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
Strong computer literacy and a full driver's licence
