The Hard Antler is a well-established restaurant and bar in Haast, offering hearty meals and friendly service in one of New Zealand’s most beautiful and remote regions. We serve a wide variety of customers, from locals to international tourists, and pride ourselves on delivering consistently great food in a warm, welcoming environment.
The Role:
We are currently seeking two Chefs to join our busy kitchen team. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals, maintaining excellent hygiene standards, and helping manage kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook menu items to a consistently high standard
Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen
Manage stock, assist with ordering, and ensure proper food storage
Ensure all food safety and hygiene procedures are strictly followed
Assist with planning menus and estimating food and labour costs
Provide guidance and training to junior kitchen staff or kitchenhands
Collaborate with the kitchen team during busy service periods
Contribute to menu development and daily specials
Skills and Experience Required:
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or a relevant qualification.
Understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards
Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail
Team player with a positive attitude and good communication skills
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
