Role Description
• Report to the Q-LAB Manager
• Proficient computer skills navigating and using an ERP system
• Be able to learn the properties of current range of pigments and their applications in the plastics industry
• Create colour matches from first principles (by eye) using suitable pigments for the application. i.e. The colour matcher must be able to create a colour by eye, not by relying on a spectrophotometer.
• Ensure colour match is suitable for the intended application requirements (price, food, light fastness, heavy metal, temperature, strength, and product use)
• Use of lab equipment: Scales, mixers, injection moulding machine, 2 roll mill, hot plate press, light box, film blower.
• Use the Datacolor Spectrophotometer to check the accuracy of their final colour match
• Must be able to complete at least 3 tasks/colour matches per day
• Correction of off colours from production
• Assist with quality control if there is a work load overflow
• Assist with weighing of samples when required
• Assist with research and development tasks when required
• Assemble the paperwork and presentation of their samples
• Work method must be orderly, logging each colour match attempt with neatness and attention to detail
Role Requirements
Non Negotiable:
• Ability to match by eye without relying on a spectro is a must.
• Excellent knowledge of pigments, their colors and technical characteristics is a must.
• Proficiency in English is a must
• 5 years’ experience in a Color Matching role within a masterbatch environment, specifically color masterbatches is a must.
• Candidate must be able to work under pressure in a manufacturing environment and can communicate effectively at all levels, from factory floor to director level.
• Candidate must have Excellent Attention To Detail.
• The candidate will have access to a vast amount of confidential information, such as formulations and customer lists. This role will require high ethical integrity and trust.
• Use and navigation of a spectrophotometer (specifically Datacolor software would be beneficial)
Beneficial:
• Previous experience in building a spectrophotometer database would be beneficial.
• Technical knowledge of various polymers and additives would be beneficial.
• Previous experience of how to manufacture and process masterbatch would be beneficial.
