About the Role
The Intermediate Architectural Technologist supports project teams by producing technical drawings, coordinating with consultants, and ensuring design intent is executed accurately. This role requires strong understanding of building systems, construction methods, codes, and digital production tools (Revit/AutoCAD). The role requires that you work independently on assigned tasks and contribute to multiple project phases, from schematic design to construction administration.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the design development, and construction documents phase of a project;
Have an understanding of building and construction materials for various building typologies, and construction schedules;
Participate in determining site statistics, code review and other similar activities as assigned by the Project lead:
Assist the project lead with coordinating consultant teams and contractors; Integrate consultant markups and ensure drawing consistency across disciplines.
Communicate effectively with project architects, project managers, as well as internal and external project team members.
Assist the project lead with contract administration including project coordination and site supervision. This role includes the review of shop drawings, preparation of RFI responses, and change orders and other contract related documents.
Prepare supplemental instructions and associated consultant coordination sketches, as well as participate in the preparation of field review reports.
Attend occasional site visits including meetings to support the construction administration phase of a project.
Prepare record drawings when required.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate would have the following attributes:
Registered Architectural Technologist, AIBC.
4-8 years in Architecture with experience in all or some of the following sectors; Residential (low, mid and high-rise), Industrial, Institutional and Commercial projects in BC.
Advanced proficiency in REVIT and AutoCAD. Ability to use Enscape and Bluebeam is an asset.
Solid understanding of construction assemblies, envelope detailing, and construction methods within BC.
Experience in managing Clients, Projects, Contractors and Consultants for a range of different contract types (CCDC) and building typologies (Residential (low – high), Institutional, Commercial, Industrial) is an asset.
Competency in the application of the Building Code and Bylaws along with the Vancouver Building Bylaw (VBBL).
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks across projects.
