Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Compliance Program Development:
The CCO will architect, implement, and sustain a comprehensive compliance program that encompasses policies, procedures, and controls to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
Compliance considerations will be seamlessly integrated into business processes and the overarching risk management framework.
Strategic Guidance and Integration:
The CCO provides strategic counsel to organizational leadership on compliance-related matters.
A data-driven approach is employed to continuously monitor and audit compliance activities.
Crisis management and events of reputational threats are navigated through effectively.
Risk Assessment:
The CCO conducts forward-looking scenario planning to identify and evaluate potential compliance risks.
Insightful compliance testing results are delivered to Senior Management.
Instances of compliance failures are disseminated with preventive strategies.
Accountability for significant compliance failures is assessed.
Strategic metrics and Key Result Areas (KRAs) are defined to demonstrate progress and accountability.
Continuous Program Review and Enhancement:
The compliance program is regularly reviewed and strategically updated to ensure its effectiveness.
Comprehensive training programs are developed and implemented to ensure all employees understand compliance obligations and best practices.
Change Management:
The CCO collaborates with departments such as Risk Management, Legal, and Audit to integrate compliance considerations into the organization's strategic risk management framework.
A culture of compliance, integrity, and accountability is fostered across the organization.
An effective communication strategy leads change management across the board.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Postgraduate degree in law, finance, CS, CA, MBA, or a related field.
Professional certification in compliance, risk management, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of strategic experience in a compliance role, with a strong background in compliance.
The Chief Compliance Officer oversees various compliance areas including commercial, financial, safety (EHS), data privacy & cybersecurity, HR, POSH, and regulatory/statutory compliance.
Functional and Behavioral Competencies:
Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
A proven record in successful change management and building compliance practices in an ambiguous work environment.
Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.
Proven leadership and project management skills.
