The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) is the Australian Government's primary authority on radiation protection and nuclear safety. Our purpose is to protect the Australian people and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation, through understanding risks, best practice regulation, research, policy, services, partnerships and engaging with the community.
Section overview
The Finance section is responsible for ARPANSA’s financial reporting, financial service operations, travel management and procurement functions and for developing and maintaining robust financial systems that provide high-quality financial information that supports the Agency’s strategic objectives. The section ensures the accuracy of the Agency’s official accounting records; produces timely financial performance reports; manages internal controls to mitigate risk; and safeguards the Agency’s assets.
Primary purpose of the role
Oversee the finance management functions of the agency and provide input to strategic decision-making processes that have a financial impact. Reporting directly to the Head of Office for Business Support, the role will contribute to the overall financial sustainability of the agency by providing insights and recommendations on various aspects of the agency’s operations including efficiency reviews and keeping the currency of our cost-recovery and fee-for-services arrangements.
Lead the oversight of various projects, funding applications, review of ARPANSA’s business models, and management of the agency’s operational and capital budgets. Provide financial advice to the Executive Group in developing the agency's future strategic direction and maintaining cost recovery through robust costing and pricing models.
To collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to implement financial strategies, deliver detailed financial reports, manage people, and conduct high-level operational reviews of Offices and Branches. This role is pivotal in enhancing the agency's financial performance, stability, and strength.
