Mission
As the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), you will report to and partner with the CEO to set the strategic direction of our marketing efforts while actively contributing to the overall organizational strategy. In this leadership role, you will oversee all marketing activities, including administration, planning, budgeting, and team guidance. Your creative vision, alignment with company values, and strong business acumen will be integral to your success.
Responsibilities
Strategy
• Develop, scale, and enhance brand leadership and marketing well-being by crafting, implementing, and monitoring the overarching marketing strategy.
• Contribute marketing insights, analysis, and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making, aligning functional objectives with organizational goals.
• Collaborate closely with the CEO to provide strategic guidance based on marketing analysis, cost assessment, and revenue/expense analysis.
• Play a vital role in the ongoing strategic planning process as an essential member of the senior management team.
• Supervise budget planning and cost management in accordance with the brand's strategic plan.
• Foster alignment between marketing strategy and short- and long-term financial planning and projections by engaging senior management and department heads.
• Review existing marketing procedures, processes, and administration, recommending enhancements and overseeing system management.
Financial and Operational Management
• Lead budgeting efforts and budget implementation, monitoring progress and reporting marketing metrics both internally and externally.
• Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for the marketing department and collaborate with sales, business development, and customer success teams to ensure a cohesive approach to customer attraction, support, and retention.
• Oversee market research, pricing, product/service marketing, marketing communications, advertising, and public relations.
• Execute customized online and offline marketing campaigns to bolster the brand's digital marketing positioning, including website localization, SEO, SEM, and digital campaigns.
• Analyze market trends and campaign success, generate reports, and implement necessary improvements.
• Plan, organize, and execute various marketing events, such as prospect and customer events and conferences, to enhance brand awareness.
Team Management
• Develop and oversee direct staff while providing guidance to larger multidisciplinary teams outside of your direct span of control.
• Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration with senior management to ensure financial, IT, and HR solutions align with the brand's evolving strategy.
• Offer insights into attracting and nurturing key national team members.
• Cultivate relationships with vendors and partners.
Qualification
• Bachelor's degree in media, marketing, communications, or equivalent experience; Master's degree preferred.
• A minimum of 12-15 years of broad marketing experience, including experience in gathering and evaluating marketing results and providing actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
• Proficiency in diverse marketing areas, including digital advertising, media, product marketing, demand generation, content marketing, branding, public relations, channel marketing, marketing analytics, and event management for a mid-sized organization.
• Proven track record of managing marketing teams and achieving excellence in the workplace.
• Maturity, proactivity, and a history of functioning as a true business partner to the CEO of a similar-sized organization.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate strategic vision into an operational model.
• A collaborative and adaptable style with a strong service-oriented mindset, emphasising teamwork and continuous learning.
• In-depth knowledge of inbound and outbound marketing for e-commerce, retail, and lifestyle brands.
• Demonstrated experience positioning a company in a competitive market and gaining market share.
• Hands-on management approach with integrity, thriving in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• A commitment to the professional development of team members.
• Proficiency in marketing technology software and technical expertise in other digital solutions, including MarTech stack management.
