CIS & Intercultural Learning Coordinator- (POR at POL 3 level)
Aquinas College is a Catholic Regional College for young people in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri people. Commencing in January 2026, Aquinas College wishes to employ a dynamic and suitably qualified CIS & Intercultural Learning Coordinator. The CIS & Intercultural Learning Coordinator (CILC) exercises a significant whole-school leadership role within the College. The role carries with it responsibility for the leadership, development and management of accreditation within the framework of the Council of International Schools (CIS). The CILC fosters intercultural competencies both throughout the curriculum and the Aquinas College Community through co-curricular events and activities. The role carries with it specific responsibilities with respect to the development of Intercultural capabilities and Global Citizenship aligned with Council of International School accreditation and School Improvement Framework drivers. This role actively promotes an intercultural perspective through mission, curriculum, policies and practices that will provide opportunities for students to develop the attributes of an Aquinas student and their intercultural capabilities.
This Position of Responsibility (POR at POL 3 Level) comes with a component of remuneration and time release. This leadership opportunity is available for a period of 3 years, with an ongoing teaching position associated with the appointments.
The preferred candidate will be enthusiastic, keen to engage and inspire our and students and able to deliver curriculum that caters for students with different learning styles.
The successful applicant will have:
An understanding of Ministerial Order 1359 on Child Safety as it relates to the College’s Code of Conduct, policies, procedures and practice.
An ability to articulate and support the Aquinas Vision and Mission for education within the context of the College’s Catholic identity and evangelising mission.
An understanding of the College’s Mission Charter and Strategic Plan.
An ability to lead, coordinate and support the Aquinas College staff.
Experience as an accredited CIS Evaluator or a willingness to train as a CIS Evaluator.
A recognition of the importance of developing Global Citizens.
An understanding of how Catholic Social Teachings and the College’s Mission & Vision can enhance global citizenship.
An understanding of the cultural value of multilingualism.
An appreciation of the way that cultural differences can enrich and enhance the teaching moments and learning of students of all ages, and the College community as a whole.
An ability to incorporate diverse and international approaches to collaborative problem solving.
An aim to ensure that all students gain better cross-cultural understanding and ability to solve the problems that will inevitably arise in today’s interconnected world.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A high degree of professionalism.
