Designation: Surveyors / Inspectors Civil
Reports to: Technical Manager
Job Profile:
The Civil QA/QC Inspector & Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing and implementing quality control and assurance activities related to civil and structural works at the site. This includes monitoring construction quality, reviewing and validating test results, ensuring compliance with project specifications and applicable standards, and coordinating with the client, contractor, and third-party inspection agencies. The role also involves maintaining quality documentation and assisting with audits and inspections to ensure smooth project execution within defined quality parameters
Preferred Qualification:
B.E. / B. Tech / Diploma in Civil Engineering from recognised university.
Minimum 7–8 years of QA/QC experience in industrial construction (preferably petrochemical, refinery, or heavy industry)
Working experience with large contractors or direct engagement in projects at Oil and gas , Petrochemical Industries is an added advantage
Certifications in Quality Management (e.g., ISO +001 Lead Auditor) or NDT Level II are desirable
Competency Required:
Strong knowledge of civil engineering practices, construction methods, and project site operations.
Thorough understanding of QA/QC processes in EPC or industrial construction projects.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, standards, and procedures.
Hands-on experience with field tests (core cutting, slump, cube tests, steel tensile/bend tests, etc.).
Familiarity with concrete mix design, welding, grouting, and alignment checks.
Good communication, documentation, and coordination skills with stakeholders.

IS Codes: IS 456 (RCC), IS 383 (aggregates), IS 10262 (concrete mix design), IS 1786 (reinforcement), IS 516 (testing), IS 1200 (measurement), IS 3370 (water retaining structures), etc.
IRC Codes: For road and drainage work, where applicable.
ASTM/BS/ACI standards: If client-specified or applicable in QA plans.
NBC 2016 (National Building Code)
ISO +001: Awareness of QMS standards for documentation and auditing
- Knowledge of material testing –
Soil testing: SPT, Proctor, Plate load, CBR, Grain size distribution, Atterberg limits.
Concrete testing: Slump test, cube compression, flexural strength, core test.
Reinforcement: Tensile, bend, rebend, chemical testing for Fe content.
Bituminous material: Penetration, ductility, flash point, Marshall stability (if applicable).
Brick/block: Compressive strength, water absorption, dimensional checks.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Inspect and verify all civil and structural construction activities as per approved QAP, ITP, drawings, and specifications.
Monitor construction quality at each stage – excavation, backfilling, concreting, shuttering, reinforcement, curing, masonry, plastering, waterproofing, finishing, etc.
Witness field and laboratory tests on construction materials (soil, concrete, aggregates, steel, etc.) as per approved test plans and project requirements.
Ensure implementation of QA/QC procedures and coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) wherever applicable.
Conduct joint inspections with client representatives, raise and follow up on non-conformance reports (NCRs), and ensure proper corrective/preventive actions.
Coordinate with client engineers, PMC, contractors, and third-party agencies for quality-related matters.
Prepare and maintain all quality documentation including inspection reports, test certificates, pour cards, calibration records, site instructions, and daily quality logs.
Support audits (internal/external), ensure closure of observations, and maintain traceability of QA/QC records.
Coordinate material inspection, shelf-life verification, and proper storage of QA-relevant construction materials.
Maintain a register for site inspections, pour cards, concrete/mix approvals, material test reports, and calibration records.
Prepare and submit Inspection Test Reports (ITRs), Site Instructions (SIs), NCRs, and Daily Progress Reports (DPRs).
Ensure traceability of all QA/QC records linked with respective project WBS/activities.
Maintain electronic and hard copy documentation in line with Reliance QA/QC and project documentation systems.
