At Suncorp, we’re proud to support Australian businesses when things go wrong. We’re looking for a proactive, customer-focused Claims Officer with strong liability experience to join our Commercial Property Liability team.

In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of third-party property damage claims – where a customer’s business may have unintentionally caused damage to someone else’s property. We’re seeking someone who’s confident interpreting policy coverage and assessing liability, with a solid understanding of commercial insurance principles. You'll be the key point of contact for brokers, insured businesses, and claimants, delivering clear, fair, and timely outcomes from lodgement through to finalisation.

What you’ll do

Manage a portfolio of property liability claims end-to-end, from lodgement to settlement

Assess policy coverage and determine legal liability in complex, sometimes ambiguous situations

Communicate effectively with brokers, insured customers, and third-party claimants

Coordinate with internal stakeholders including Assessors, Legal, and Recoveries teams

Identify and support vulnerable customers where needed

Monitor claim progress, escalate delays, and contribute to continuous improvement

Maintain a high standard of customer service while meeting compliance and quality standards

What you’ll bring

Proven experience managing liability claims – preferably commercial third-party property damage or similar lines

A solid grasp of liability principles, policy interpretation, and claims decision-making

Strong communication skills – verbal and written – with a focus on clarity and professionalism

Sound judgement and the ability to apply critical thinking in complex scenarios

Confidence to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team

A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong organisational skills

Empathy, resilience, and a genuine desire to help customers through challenging situations

Familiarity with claims systems like Claims Centre is a bonus

Work Environment

Location: Brisbane or Sydney

Hybrid model: We operate a hybrid working model allowing you to work from home and from our brand-new Brisbane CBD office. Minimum of 2 days in the office per week.

Training: We require full-time in office attendance throughout your initial training period.

Hours: Standard full-time hours, Monday to Friday
