In this role, you will manage and resolve Brooklyn’s Financial Lines claims as part of the Claims team; reporting to Brooklyn’s Head of Claims and working within a team of fellow Claims Specialists, to drive files to resolution and interact and collaborate frequently with Practice Leaders and the Underwriting team as well as external legal panel; and achieve the best possible outcomes for Brooklyn / AXA XL and its clients by resolving and settling claims proactively.

This is role is offering a part-time working week with the option of 4 days a week; this is a great opportunity for work/life balance.

This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime.

What you’ll be DOING

What will your essential responsibilities include?

Proactively manage assigned financial lines claims (including professional indemnity, management liability and financial institutions) across multiple jurisdictions, while setting and implementing the case strategy for these claims under the direction of the Practice Leaders and Claims management. Handle all claims in accordance with Brooklyn / AXA XL’s Claim Handling Principles.
Collaborate closely with claims specialists and Practice Leaders to achieve optimum file outcome, determine if / which external vendors to engage, and establish strategic plan with vendor, identify and notify management of Large Losses and take all appropriate steps to achieve the best outcome for the client and AXA XL.
Work with management and Claims Legal team to identify and select appropriate counsel or alternative resolution technique. Pro-actively manage and control litigation strategy on assigned claims.
Proactively manage expenses through thoughtful expense management and best practice.
Active participant in Quality Review Process.
Partner with internal and external counsel in setting and pursuing effective and cost-efficient litigation strategies for claims in litigation.
Assist Underwriters with policy review and drafting, participate in external marketing and business development activities. Share lessons learned and other identified trends to improve risk assessment and underwriting process.
Coordinate and manage communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the highest level of customer service and transparency.
Produce internal reporting in support of best practice and reserving guidelines.
Monitor and report on emerging liability and coverage trends.
Effectively manage, track and report on portfolio performance.

Prior claims handling experience in Financial Lines or Insurance Lawyers with Financial lines exposure
Exceptional communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, presentation and influencing skills. Able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of sophistication. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and efficiently juggle numerous concurrent responsibilities.
Collaborative approach: Develop and maintain productive working relationships with insureds, brokers, claim specialists, underwriters and legal counsel. Provide guidance and seek input from others as needed to achieve the best result possible. Capable of working and collaborating with a virtual team.
Results Oriented: Approach tasks proactively and anticipate needs. Think quickly and prioritize multiple work streams without sacrificing quality. Act with a sense of urgency.
Continuous Improvement Focused: Willing to ask questions and explore new ideas. Eager to learn and focused on continuously improving technical skills and Brookly / AXA XL claims capabilities.
