Position Summary
Operates a large or heavy truck that transports cargo to and from specified locations on time and according to schedule. Role involves adhering to all traffic and safety regulations, conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and ensuring the timely delivery of cargo to its destination.
• Location – Port Coquitlam, BC
• Long Haul driver – Typically 8-10 days out per trip
• The areas serviced will be Florida, California, Carolinas, Texas Valley and Arizona to/from Western Canada.
What you will do
• Operates vehicle safely and responsibly, adhering to all DOT and company safety regulations.
• Conducts routine inspections prior to departure to ensure the vehicle is in optimal condition.
• Manages appropriate cargo documentation and provides necessary paperwork upon the delivery of goods.
• Coordinates the loading and unloading of the truck, verifying cargo and ensuring items are properly stored and secured.
• Maintains contact with dispatcher to provide status updates, clarify special instructions, and notify about delays or issues during transport.
What You’ll Bring
• Valid Class 1/AZ License is required
• Clean 5 years Commercial driving abstract (no more than 3 demerits and 3 negative events)
• Valid Fast card or TWIC card will be an asset
• Must have minimum 2 years of long haul driving experience
• Minimum 6 months of Cross Border experience required
• Hazmat experience
• Reefer experience preferred
• Understanding of Canadian and US hours of service
• Must be bondable and legally able to work in Canada
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
• Follow company rules and regulations with respect to safety and hours of service
• Excellent customer service skills
