Fort McMurray Catholic Schools requires a 1.0 FTE Classroom Support Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. This assignment is for an exceptional teacher and mentor who can work with students, from ECS to Grade 6 who have special needs and require a range of supports.
Job Requirements:
This employee will work collaboratively as a team member with their administrators, teachers, staff, students, and parents, in a leadership role. Having strong organizational and technology skills including the ability to use Excel, Google, and ClevR is essential.
The successful candidate will:
support classroom teachers with specialized teaching strategies including:
a) accommodating students with learning disabilities and modifying curriculum for moderate to severe learning needs at a variety of grade levels
b) differentiating instruction in current teaching practices and demonstrated knowledge of a variety of literacy and numeracy approaches that improve student outcomes
c) working with children who have developmental delays and/or Autism and is able to support instructional practices to ensure completion of assignments using technology to support students who require academic accommodations and modifications
d) working with students who have challenging behavior and using trauma informed approaches to help students’ self - regulate and build tools for future resilience
coordinate internal and external professionals in order to provide instructional and therapeutic programming for children within their school
support Educational Assistants in their roles and responsibilities, following the FMCSD CUPE Collective Agreement
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in an educational field with a minimum of five years of classroom teaching. Candidates currently enrolled in a Master’s Degree program will be considered.
Specific knowledge and training in special education is preferred
