POSITION TITLE:
Clerk, High School
RESPONSIBLE TO:
Assistant Principal/Supervisor
JOB CLASSIFICATION:
Classified Position
201 day Employee-at-Will.
FLSA Status: Non Exempt
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Clerical services
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal) preferred.
Experience:
One (1) year of secretarial experience required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
Assists with GAVS; updates spreadsheet; sends emails to parents.
Creates and sends discipline notices to parents and teachers.
Assists with clerical duties associated with students, such as class schedules, posting grades, attendance, and registration.
Provides clerical assistance to assigned administrators.
Assists in the overall duties in the front office and/or attendance office, including but not limited to, answering phone and routing calls, taking phone messages, routing mail, employee leave process, creating student tardy report, issuing student parking passes, etc.
If bilingual, translates for parents and administration, as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Ability to work successfully with parents, school personnel and students
Good keyboarding
Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish-English)
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is almost continuously required to sit, and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to walk and stand. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and continuously will repeat the same hand, arm or finger motion many times as in typing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment. However, the noise level can vary depending upon daily activity but will still remain within the acceptable noise level range. The employee continuously is interacting with the public, staff and students. The employee frequently will be required to meet multiple demands from several people.
