Role Overview
We are looking for a recent engineering graduate to join our team as a Clinical Applications Engineer. This hybrid role combines conventional engineering duties, engineering fieldwork, and customer training, with substantial travel across Canada and the US. Travel frequency will vary based on product demonstrations and clinical data collection schedules, with some trips lasting one to two weeks. While not constant, travel is a key part of the role, providing hands-on experience in cutting-edge medical environments, opportunities to build long-term connections with key stakeholders, and real-time problem-solving in the field.

Here’s what the role entails:

Supporting clinical engagements by setting up our devices at clinical sites, training pathology staff, and troubleshooting issues on-site (with remote support from the technical team).
Serving as the face of Tenomix in the field, balancing technical expertise with professionalism, as every clinical visit is also a potential sales opportunity.
Working closely with the CEO, CTO, and research teams to gather real-world feedback, playing a key role in refining and enhancing our product.
When no clinical visits are scheduled, operating as part of the small technical team under the CTO, performing Robotics/Mechatronics engineering tasks.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a medical device with the potential to transform clinical workflows. It provides hands-on experience in both technical and client-facing work, allowing you to develop a broad skill set in a fast-paced environment.

What Will You Do
On-Site Support & Training

Travel with the CEO and/or research staff to clinical sites for data collection and product demonstrations.
Set up and configure the Tenomix pathology robot for clinical use.
Train pathology staff on device operation, consumables usage, and best practices.Serve as a technical liaison, ensuring a smooth clinical adoption process.
Field Troubleshooting & Technical Communication

Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot hardware/software issues in real-world clinical settings.
Work under pressure to resolve real-time system failures, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical data collection.
Clearly document and communicate technical issues to the engineering team for remote support.
Assist with data transfer and management as needed.
Engineering & Product Development Support (when not traveling)

Assist with hardware and product development through CAD modeling, 3D printing, prototyping, and testing.
Contribute to design documentation, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
Support vendor sourcing and component selection, collaborating with suppliers as needed.
Depending on experience, contribute to software development tasks.
Who Are You
A recent engineering graduate or young professional with relevant experience in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
Eligible to participate in the IRAP Youth Employment Program (YEP). Note: This position is supported by external funding, and applicants must meet the eligibility criteria outlined by the IRAP YEP program. We encourage candidates to review the program requirements here to ensure they qualify.
Strong in engineering fundamentals, problem-solving, and troubleshooting.
Polished, confident, and charismatic in professional environments, with strong interpersonal skills.
Comfortable with frequent travel, including extended trips (up to several weeks at a time).
Able to think independently in the field, adapting to challenges and communicating effectively with both technical teams and non-technical end-users/stakeholders.
Proactive, adaptable, and eager to take on new challenges to support both the technical and clinical aspects of the role.
Bonus Points
Experience with robotics, automation, or medical devices.
Exposure to medical environments (e.g., labs, hospitals, or clinical settings).
Familiarity with working within a quality management system (QMS).
Some experience with ultrasound imaging and/or machine vision.
Additional Information
Compensation and benefits:

Salary: $62,400 annually (equivalent to $30 per hour based on a 40-hour work week).
Benefits: Not included for this position.
