Job Description
The Clinical Director at Uris Hall is responsible for the overall leadership, quality, and integrity of clinical services provided within the facility. This role oversees clinical staff, ensures regulatory compliance, drives program development, and maintains high standards of patient care. The Clinical Director serves as a key member of the leadership team, balancing administrative oversight with clinical expertise to support effective treatment outcomes and a safe therapeutic environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership & Oversight
Provide strategic direction for all clinical programs and services
Ensure delivery of evidence-based, trauma-informed, and patient-centered care
Oversee assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and discharge processes
Maintain clinical quality standards and monitor treatment outcomes
Provide consultation on complex clinical cases
Staff Supervision & Development
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate clinical staff (therapists, counselors, case managers, etc.)
Conduct regular supervision sessions in accordance with licensing requirements
Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of clinical personnel
Identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities
Foster a collaborative, ethical, and supportive team culture
Program Management
Develop, implement, and continuously improve clinical programming
Ensure appropriate staffing ratios and service coverage
Monitor program effectiveness using data and quality indicators
Collaborate with medical, administrative, and support departments
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, licensing standards, and accreditation requirements
Maintain adherence to confidentiality laws (HIPAA) and ethical standards
Oversee clinical documentation quality and audit readiness
Participate in incident review, risk mitigation, and performance improvement initiatives
Administrative & Operational Duties
Manage clinical budgets and resource allocation (as applicable)
Participate in leadership meetings and strategic planning
Prepare reports on clinical performance and outcomes
Support external relations with referral sources, families, and community partners
QualificationsEducation
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field (required)
Licensure
Active, unrestricted clinical license (e.g., LCSW, LMHC, LPC, LMFT, PsyD, PhD) in the state of operation (required)
Qualified to provide clinical supervision (preferred)
Experience
Minimum 5–7 years of clinical experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or related field
Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role
Experience in residential, inpatient, or intensive outpatient settings strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong leadership and team-building skills
Excellent clinical judgment and crisis management ability
Deep knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities
Familiarity with accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CARF) preferred
Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
High level of professionalism, integrity, and cultural competence
Working Conditions
Primarily onsite at Uris Hall
May require occasional evening or on-call availability
Interaction with individuals experiencing acute behavioral health needs
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the facility for extended periods
Ability to respond to emergencies as needed
