Full job description
Healthcare Professional needed to work as a Referral Clinical Coordinator, this position is responsible for assisting hospitals in identifying and referring potential donors. This role involves gathering and interpreting medical information to aid in the determination of suitability for a potential donor. The Referral Clinical Coordinator will work closely with the medical team to discuss the plan of care and provide donor management goals to help preserve the opportunity for donation.

In addition, the Referral Clinical Coordinator will facilitate the completion and review of brain death notes, represent the client to the potential donor's authorizing party, and undertake registry notification or approach for donation authorization when necessary. This role also involves assisting in the donation process occurring at a client's Recovery Center, including transportation, logistics, documentation, donor care, and organ recovery when necessary.

Hours: 12-hour shifts: 8AM-8PM OR 8PM-8AM; 7 days in a two week period, including alternating weekends.

Work Setting: In-person and Field Service Area

Travel: Travel required by personal auto

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist hospitals in identifying and referring potential donors

- Gather and interpret medical information to determine donor suitability

- Discuss plan of care with medical team

- Provide donor management goals to preserve donation opportunity

- Facilitate completion and review of brain death notes

- Represent client to potential donor's authorizing party

- Undertake registry notification or approach for donation authorization

- Assist in donation process at client's Recovery Center, including transportation, logistics, documentation, donor care, and organ recovery

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in Health/Science related field (e.g. EMT, Paramedic, LVN, RN with critical care experience or prior relevant experience in OPO preferred.

- Required work experience in the medical field/ medical terminology.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work collaboratively with medical team and hospital staff

- Knowledge of organ donation process and regulations

- Attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality

Certification/License

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support

(ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are

required within 6 months of hire. Client requires employees to

maintain a current California driver’s license and current vehicle

insurance.

The Referral Clinical Coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating the organ donation process and ensuring that potential donors are properly identified and cared for. This position requires a compassionate and detail-oriented individual who can effectively communicate with medical professionals, donor families, and other stakeholders to ultimately save lives through organ donation.

Equipment: Reliable automotive transportation required.

Work Hours: Performs a forty-hour workweek as determined by assigned shift.

Assigned days and/or shift can be changed according to staffing needs.

Must be available to work evenings, holidays, and weekends and

overtime as required or assigned. The length of scheduled shift may be

extended to accommodate fluctuation in referral activity and

staffing needs.
