About the Service
The Christchurch Hospital ****** Health Centre (SHC) is a specialist hospital outpatient clinic that provides confidential and specialised management of sexually transmitted infections, HIV, and ****** health-related concerns.
About the Role
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in ****** Health, you will support the current CNS, registered nurse, and nurse aide team to provide:
Advice and direction to facilitate self-collected testing for sexually transmitted infections.
Treatment for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, trichomoniasis, and herpes according to New Zealand ****** Health guidelines and the CSHS Medication Standing Orders.
Emergency contraception according to Family Planning guidelines.
Surveillance and management of laboratory test results, patient notification of positive results, and booking of appropriate appointments for treatment.
Phlebotomy according to Health New Zealand protocols.
Triaging of requests for care via phone call.
About You
We are seeking an experienced ****** Health RN with advanced clinical expertise and leadership abilities to drive best practices and support the development of nursing staff.
Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Expert clinical assessment skills and proven experience in the specialty area.
A postgraduate qualification in nursing or working towards one.
Strong teaching, mentoring, and leadership abilities, with a track record of supporting staff development.
Proven ability to lead quality initiatives, develop nursing standards, and contribute to professional growth.
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating innovation and proactive problem-solving.
Registration with the Nursing Council of NZ with a current APC.
Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori, or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
Certification in prescribing emergency contraception, independent vaccination, or as a registered smear taker is advantageous.
Qualification as a Nurse prescriber is highly advantageous.
Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
